Comparison for companies in Ecuador

Manual vs automated e-invoicing in Ecuador

Manual issuance (the SRI’s free tool) with few documents and a single point of sale. Automated when sales already live in an ERP, a till or an online store.

Manual issuance if

  • You issue few documents and the SRI’s free tool works for you.
  • One person invoices and delivers the RIDE to the customer.
  • You do not sell on dates with temporary VAT rates.

Automated issuance if

  • You invoice in US dollars from several points of sale or an e-commerce site.
  • You also issue withholdings, credit notes and waybills.
  • You want the document and RIDE emailed to the customer automatically.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need SRI authorization to e-invoice?

No. The SRI automatically authorizes obligated taxpayers; you can check it in your taxpayer mailbox or the lookups the SRI provides.

Is the SRI’s free invoicing tool enough?

For low volumes, yes. When you invoice from several channels or need to link documents with your ERP, issuing with your own integrated software makes more sense.

What is the RIDE?

The printed representation of the electronic document: the readable version you can send to your customer. Automated issuance generates it and emails it with the document.
