Comparison for companies in Ecuador

Cloud vs on-premises servers in Ecuador

Own servers with steady load, a team to run them or physical-control requirements. Cloud with demand peaks, several sites or when nobody should be running hardware.

Own servers if

  • Load is steady and a team runs the infrastructure.
  • You prefer not to manage international data transfers.
  • Your systems depend on physical equipment at the plant or warehouse.

Cloud if

  • You operate in several cities or with remote teams.
  • You can document the provider’s guarantees on transfers and security.
  • You need to scale seasonally without buying servers.

Frequently asked questions

Can I host Ecuadorian customer data in a foreign cloud?

The LOPDP allows it toward countries or organizations with adequate protection, under art. 56 and the Regulation; other cases require additional guarantees. Check your case with legal counsel.

When did LOPDP sanctions start to apply?

The law was published on 26 May 2021, and its provisions on corrective measures and sanctions took effect two years after that publication.

What do I do with my current server if I migrate?

Inventory systems and data, move the least critical first and define a rollback plan. When retiring hardware, wipe data securely and keep a record.
